Moving Tips

At Lausch’s Moving Company, we believe that our service includes sharing any tips and tricks we have learned over the years! A successful move requires all parties to be on the same page so everything goes smoothly. We have compiled the list below to make your move seamless and hassle-free!

  • Wrap and box all small items to save on moving time and protect your possessions from damage.
  • Label all boxes and note the area/room where you want them to be placed.
  • Try to pack the majority of boxes so that they are closed. This will make your boxes more stackable; cutting down on the amount of space taken up in a truck and preventing items from being unstable during transport.
  • Heavy wooden dressers, wardrobes, and chests of drawers should be emptied of items to cut down on the weight and prevent damage.
  • Keep all valuables in your possession, we are not responsible for loss or damage to these items.
  • Please disassemble flake/particle board furniture. We are not responsible for damage to these items.
  • We do not disconnect or reconnect gas appliances.
  • Upright refrigerators and freezers must be totally empty and de-iced
  • We do not disconnect or reconnect ice makers, please do this before we arrive.
  • All waterbeds must be completely disassembled and drained.
  • We can disassemble and reassemble most any bed, including power beds. Large head/foot boards take considerably more time,
you may choose to disassemble/reassemble yourself to cut down on time.
  • Pianos may need to be re-tuned and keyboards re-aligned after the move. We are not responsible for these services.
  • Grandfather clocks may need to be re-balanced after being moved – we are not responsible for this service. We will remove weights and pendulum (hood and works if necessary).
  • We cannot be responsible for removing items that are larger than doorways, stairs, etc.
  • We will not be responsible for altering your residence in any way. Including but not limited to removing doors, doorways, windows, etc.
